Recent Reviews Boulder Theater
- Ruthie Bohemian Writer (a month ago):
Boulder Theatre is old and very outdated and considering all the money that’s put into it from all the shows it could stand some kind of renovation. We were lucky to go to hear Tommy Emmanuel, who is a world class guitarist and musician. The best part about the theater was that since it’s fairly small, I believe it sits seats around 800, our views mid-back were just fine. To their credit, they do have some of the sections or maybe all of them, higher than the one in front of it. So it’s unlikely someone can block your view. The chairs are rather uncomfortable, and it felt like we were sardines in a can as far as arm room and body space. There were two sets, and we chose to check out the balcony for the second set. The sound was much better as it was a bit loud on the first floor and the seats are theater seats so they’re more comfortable and there’s more leg room. The line to the women’s room was long and a bit tiresome so they could use more toilets. Or perhaps some lounge furniture to relax on while waiting to quickly use the restroom. We also questioned the lighting because they did a lot of flashing lights and it was a bit distracting, and I believe it took away from Tommy’s outrageous talent. And for anyone prone to seizures, it would have easily brought them on. I understand how they wanted to make it more “exciting,” yet it was a bit much in my humble opinion. Parking can also be a bit of a challenge. I do appreciate that the show started only 10 minutes after scheduled and of course Emmanuel did an amazing appearance.

What a wonderful, authentic, old world, intimate venue! I feel so so lucky that I got to see a show like the Indigo Girls at such an intimate venue. Thank you Boulder Theatre for hosting such wonderful shows!

If the acoustics weren’t so great, this would be a one star review. It’s great having doors opened for me in a wheelchair, but what’s the point of paying for a ticket and getting in if I can’t see the show? The “ADA” section is an absolute joke for a standing room show. In order to see a GLIMPSE of AFI, I had to hold my phone above my head, zoomed to at least 3.4 or higher, and tilt my head backwards. The bathroom was a joke, and getting to the “handicapped “ stall (that doesn’t lock) was a Herculean feat that I was smart enough to get help for the second time I tried. I’m incredibly disappointed with the fact I couldn’t see anything aside from other people enjoying one of my favorite bands. But the sound was incredible, and the few employees I interacted with were not unpleasant. I’m just so freaking bummed.

Really cool theater, I had never been here before but Mark Normand brought me so I had to come. I thought the seats would be uncomfortable but they were surprising super comfortable and they even slid back a little bit so they were even more comfortable! The bathrooms had enough stalls and were actually big enough that I could turn around and not have to step in pee to get out so it was just a quite enjoyable experience. The only downside was that AXS site was not working but that has nothing to do with the Boulder theater and they actually handle a bunch of tickets and we're very quick on their feet about acting.

Very nice theater. Great places to stand, rock out, or just sit and enjoy the show. Great bar. Looks like it's been around a long time so it has character.

Classic theater is well maintained as long as you don't explore far. Like Ann Margret in Newsies there is a lot of flair, energy, and spirit, however it's best years are behind it. Seating is cramped and you will get very cozy with your neighbors. Decent venue that serves the skill of your entertainment, but not worth seeking out for it's own merits.

People blocked the aisles the entire concert and blocked the view of the show and made it hard for people to walk around them. The workers stood there doing nothing. So glad we paid for good seats to have random people come block the view. Also the seats aren’t staggered, so the rows in front of you are the same level as you meaning you wouldn’t be able to see above them and their head is right in your view. Annoyed I wasted my birthday here. See my photo to see all the people blocking the aisle and view

Have been to shows a few times now & a good time was had at each show. Last night Max McNown was so enjoyable. Such energy on the stage & with the crowd. Perfect smaller venue to see a concert ❤️🎶
